WICHITA FALLS, TX – Delta T Thermal Solutions LLC, a Sharp Iron Group Company, announces they have recently won an order for the PLATECOIL product line in an HVAC mining application located in South Africa. The order is for hundreds of large panel heat exchangers uniquely designed for falling film ice manufacturing for the mine’s operations.

In collaboration with the system’s ice manufacturing design and installation team located in Europe, the Style 80 PLATECOILS are ideally suited for this falling film ice-making application. This installation will complement the mine’s expansion activities for gold recovery.

The Style 80 PLATECOIL product, manufactured from a high-strength and corrosion-resistant stainless-steel alloy, encompasses features that reduce the cycle time of the ice manufacturing, thus maximizing the output of the system. The mechanically pressed heat transfer vertical channels provide a surface that easily ejects the film of ice that has formed on the panel’s surface. There are no indentations on the surface from the welding operations that can hold ice during the harvest cycle, unlike pillow-style heat exchanger panels.

Additionally, the heat exchanger panels have a coating applied to the surface to further improve the “slipperiness” of the surface to completely eject the ice and begin the next cycle of the process.

Speaking of the heat transfer capabilities, the mechanically formed channels specific to the PLATECOIL design, guarantee the transfer fluid follows down directed paths during the cycle, and ensures consistent cooling zones over the entire contact surface area.

The PLATECOIL products are designed, manufactured, and tested to rigid ASME pressure vessel standards, thus safeguarding years of trouble-free operation in not only worldwide falling film ice-making applications but other demanding heat exchanger applications as well.

WICHITA FALLS, TX – Delta T Thermal Solutions LLC, a Sharp Iron Group Company, announces they have made significant investments in systems, equipment processes and team members since acquiring the assets from Tranter Inc., including the PLATECOIL®, ECONOCOIL®, and MaxChanger® heat exchanger product lines earlier this year.   Since mid-year, we have achieved full manufacturing production capabilities, and are designing and manufacturing these products for customers worldwide. These products enjoyed a long and rich legacy serving a wide range of international market applications from HVAC, oil & gas, beverage, food processing, and defense.  Delta T Thermal Solutions is continuing to provide heat exchanger solutions to global customers with these unique products. 

Within the office environment, we have implemented a state-of-the-art ERP software solution to efficiently manage every aspect of the business, from customer quoting through design engineering, scheduling, manufacturing, and order fulfillment.   

On the manufacturing shop floor, we have upgraded the computer controls on key manufacturing equipment to significantly improve the weld quality and production throughput.  In addition, Lean Manufacturing techniques such as single-piece flow, quick die changes, and Kan-Ban programs have been successfully implemented.  The result is reduced lead times for high-quality products.   The 48-hour lead time QuickShip Program for the PLATECOIL® product line stands as a testament to these program successes.  

In the third quarter of 2022, Delta T Thermal Solutions successfully passed the certification process and was awarded the ASME U, UM, and R code stamps for the design, manufacture, and repair of pressure vessels.  This code approval stands as the worldwide recognition of quality products that meet or exceed customer application requirements.  Furthermore, we are well on the path to achieving, before the end of 2022, the internationally recognized ISO 9000 Quality Management System certification.
